I've had few questions around how close some polishes are to each other. So I've decided to do few comparison pictures to help you decide what polish you really need :)
Let's start with creme reds by OPI. I have compared three shades against Danke-Shiny Red from OPI Germany collection. I found Wocka Wocka to be the closest of all.
Next polish I wanted to compare was You Only Live Twice from the Skyfall collection. Meep-Meep-Meep seems to be the closest but in reality it has chunky glass flecks that You Only Live Twice does not have. Let Me Entertain You is closest with the finish but it has strong cool-toned fuchsia shade.
This time I've been searching my OPI stash for dupes of Casino Royale. I thought that No Spain No Gain will be the same but it's lighter,
And finally, On Her Majesty's Secret Service is an exact dupe for Zoya's FeiFei. I find it a bit suspicious not just because they are exactly the same in colour but also in the distinctive and horrible smell.
Wow there are dupes here!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comparisons!!
How strange that they have exactly the same formula. I've noticed this with cheaper brands and the H&M collection, exactly the same!
ReplyDeleteJazz x
Thank you for that comparison!!
ReplyDeleteAh I wanted to let you know that I've added you to my link-love-list! Your blog is amazing!!

Thank you so much Danny, I now follow your blog <3
DeleteI love all you comparison!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comparisons - I can relax knowing I have most of these)))
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comparison! I didn't even realize FeiFei and On Her Majesty's Secret Service were total dupes. Good to know I need only one of them :) But now I feel like I need Danke-Shiney Red (btw, how does it compare to Die Another Day?).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comparisons I don't have any if these so I can have this useful information at hand
ReplyDeletetnx for the comparsions
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comparisons! I had those suspicions about On Her Majestys Secret Service when Ifirst saw the opi promo pics. I also think that your Casino Royale comparison makes a gorgeous ombre mani!
ReplyDeletehaha, almost look like gradients in some of them, thats funny how that worked out. thanks for the comparisons.. :)
ReplyDeleteCasino Royale seems to be quite unique :) Thank you for this comparison!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog, love it and this great post! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat!
ReplyDeleteLovely nails, and lovely comparison!
The purples make a nice ombre mani.
ReplyDeleteBy the reds and by the purples u see big difference
ReplyDeletegreat comparisons! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat comparisons. I suspect that Danke Shiny Red might be dupe for An Affair in Red Square from Russian collection.
ReplyDeleteGreat, lovely as always sweet xxx
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you had OPI An Affair in Red Square to compare with Danke-Shiny Red? Pretty sure they're very close if not dupes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great comparisons by the way! As an OPI red and pink lover and collector, I feel justified in owning all of them! ;o)
Wow - THANK YOU for the Skyfall swatches and comparisons! I've been looking all over for that info, esp about the FeiFei dupe. What a help!
ReplyDeleteCan you compare OPI The One that Got Away with OPI You Only Live Twice? Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteThe OPI Geramany collection reds are so gorgeous & look amazing on your nails. This is a great post. Thx for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing comparison polish photos. There is one more OPI that fits into the magenta glass fleck group here maybe better than I'm All Ears or maybe Ali's Big Break (that to me has some weird flecks in it that are like plastic pieces that don't shimmer like most glass fleck does - it's from the Katy Perry collection - 'The One That Got Away.' Some felt TOTGA was similar to Don't Toy With Me from the 2008 Toyland collection. Since I am beyond a huge fan of magentas/fuchsias with shimmery glass fleck in them and those that have some color shift like Flashbulb Fuchsia...I pretty much pick 'em all up.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking it was suposed to go from light to dark untill I red your post, haha...
ReplyDeleteI had a feeling You Only Live Twice was too close to Meep-Meep-Meep. I also think it's very similar to The One That Got Away, do you have that one?
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comparison. I am still drooling over Casino Royale, but now I also want No Spain No Gain.
ReplyDeleteWow!! Thanks a lot for that. It's always hard to decide between look-alike colors. ;)
ReplyDeleteNow that I have You Only Live Twice and since Let Me Entertain You is in my top 3 fav shades I turn to all winter long so I can get my fix of magenta/fuchsia but not be into summer colors...I can really compare the 2 myself. I am thrilled with BOTH! There is more red raspberry to You Only Live Twice while Let Me Entertain You really falls into a brighter magenta hue. For some they might be too close to need both - but for me, I need and love 'em both! I think You Only Live Twice will be a better winter shade because of the red in it and also work through holiday season which I never feel Let Me Entertain You is right for me around holiday when I want to be wearing more holiday red leaning shades...but that said, 'Twice' is not just for Holiday alone...perfect shade for me as I hate being stuck with shades that only work for a few short weeks out of the yr...like I am not into all the Halloween shades - they have to work for me for more than a month out of the yr. ... despite even if I did wear 2 shades every week out of the entire yr, I never would work my way through a repeat color in my collection! Love comparison photos...now I need to see Danke0Shiny Red vs. Die Another Day...that would be good when you have time. I just dotted them side by side on a sheet of paper and they look a ton a like but cannot imagine OPI doing 2 collections with a shade in each that close.
ReplyDeletethanks Lucy - your comparisons have been super helpful. Agreed with above - could you please swatch danke shiny red and die another day side by side?
ReplyDeletethanks!!

Great post, love your blog! Been following it for months! The plum comparisons make a nice ombre mani :-)
ReplyDeleteDoes it smell like a skunk? I've noticed a few dark blues and purples smell like that. I think it must be a pigment they use for that color.
ReplyDeleteI really don't know how skunk stinks :D But they stink like rotten eggs?
