Eradicate H8te In the Nail Polish Blogger Community

Hello lovelies,

I know I've already posted today but I totally forgot that today is the No H8 Day. I just want to show my support. I do not approve of any kind of bullying , in real life nor online. So this is my purple manicure for the No H8 Day - Models Own Purple Pearl.

Bullying is not funny. It is not cool. It is not right. And more importantly, it is not okay.
Most of us are, thankfully, residents of countries that support tolerance and many of our families have settled in these places simply for that reason. Generations later, it is our responsibility to perpetuate that message of tolerance across our new social platforms, including the internet.

As members of the nail polish blogging community, we all share a love of beauty, color, and lacquer. Other than that, we are remarkably different: from our race to our religion to our hair color...even to our polish application techniques. To marginalize anyone because of those differences is completely unacceptable and today I take a stand against that. I refuse to allow other people's view of "normal" dictate how I behave, believe, and blog.

In solidarity with a multitude of bloggers linked below, my purple manicure represents my proud commitment to the No H8 movement. Today, November 8, I dedicate my post to ending bullying of any kind and to encouraging diversity and imperfection among our colorful community.

OPI The Amazing Spider-Man Collection - Review and swatches

Hello lovelies!

Look what I've got! The whole OPI Spider-Man collection! You've probably seen it before because I'm quite late with my review. I've got the polishes a bit later so I could review them earlier, sorry :-/

The collection is inspired by The Amazing Spider-man film and consists of 6 colours and one Shatter:

My Boyfriend Scales Wall - grey-ish white creme. This is not a classic bright white; it's somehow muted, with added grey in it. I really like it and it became my favourite white polish. it is not as much for the grey-ish colour as for its formula. It's flawless! It applied great and two coats were enough for a full coverage. I hope this would be a one-coater but unfortunately it is not.

Your Web Or Mine? - medium pink with pearl finish. Ehm...I'm not sure how this colour fits into the Spider-man colour palette. The pearl finish is very strong which makes the polish streaky and it was a bit of a fight to apply it nicely. Two coats were enough for full coverage.

Call Me Gwen-ever - muted orange creme with coral undertones. For me this is great summer orange colour..it is not too bright or too boring, mainly because of the coral undertones. It has a great formula and pigmentation - I've needed two coats for full coverage and the polish dried very fast.

Number One Nemesis - metallic grey-ish green with gold particles. I seriously don't know what happened here, the pictures didn't come up well at all! Unfortunately I broke my nail so I couldn't take new pics :-/ Back to the polish though...it is hard to describe colour - it is like golden olive green mixed with graphite silver with added gold particles. It is also dupe for Chanel Graphite. It applied nicely and I've used two thicker coats. In the real life the colour looks so much better and more sparkly and you'll love it ;o)

Just Spotted The Lizard - yellow-ish green/olive green duochrome. I fell in love with this type of colour however this shade, I presume, is an answer to Chanel Peridot mania. It is not unique as it is almost exact dupe of Peridot but it certainly is a beauty. It is well pigmented, I'm wearing two thicker coats. Polish dried very fast and is a bit streaky. 

Into The Night - dark blue shimmer. Lovely shade, very well suited for Spider-man collection :) I liked the final result, the deep blue but to get me there I had to apply three coats. I'm a two-coater girl so three coats for me is a no no. I am a bit disappointed that the polish doesn't have better pigmentation because OPI is my fav brand and they do so well with pigmented polishes (if you know what I mean!). Despite that it applied nicely but the finish is a bit streaky.

Shatter The Scales - dark forest green Shatter with silver particles. Oh wow, I love the silver particles in the Shatter! It's not flat like the other creme shatters. However I'm not sure if we need more crackling polishes, this trend is way last year! Shatter applied well and dried fast and I'm wearing topcoat over it.

Overall I like the film-themed collection but where is red??? Spider-man without red is like Britain without Queen! I wouldn’t mind repeat of a red shade, wouldn’t have to be completely new shade, but I expected red :(

Most of the polishes had great formula and pigmentation and I also quite like the two dupes for Chanel polishes. It makes a great cheaper option.

Zoya Beach Collection for Summer 2012 - Review and swatches

I am soo excited to show you the first half of the Zoya Surf & Beach collection for this summer! The colours are awesome and the formulas are really great! So let's check it out!

Zoya says: "Summer 2012 is going to be a super stylish season for nails with the latest offering of nail polish collections, Beach and Surf, from the new color of fashion, Zoya! This new splash of color, designed by the Zoya color experts, is kissed by sea and sand translating beautifully onto the nail in the famous, full-coverage Zoya formula.

Dive into the creamy shades of the Zoya Beach Collection or the shimmering sea foils of the Zoya Surf Collection. The choice is yours – this color palette is sure to be a splash!"

Shelby - soft pink creme shade. Shelby is the lightest pink of the whole collection. It is quite warm-toned so suits me well. The formula is absolutely amazing! I've applied two coats but one coat would have been just enough if I would apply thicker coat. Or if you have short nails and your nail line is not very visible you would absolutely do with one coat. It applied flawlessly and drying time was very good too. Removal was easy :)

Lara - medium pink creme (Zoya: vivid cerise pink creme). Another lovely shade of pink with exactly the same formula as Shelby - flawless application, great pigmentation and easy removal. I've again applied two coats but one coat was almost enough. I like Lara much more than Shelby as I prefer darker colours and also it's much warmer shade.

Reagan - deep cerise pink creme.This is my favourite shade from the whole Beach collection, I love the warm deep fuchsia colour and great formula. I've applied two coats and the colour was almost opaque in the first coat. I love Zoya polishes for this, they are almost always great quality!

Arizona - muted orange creme. Zoya describes the shade as 'soft coral orange cream' but I don't really see any coral tones. It's muted orange with quite a lot of white and yellow in it. It is still bright colour but not pure bold orange. It's hard to describe but thankfully I have pictures, right? I needed two coats for full coverage as the pigmentation is little bit worse than with the previous pink/purple polishes. But overall two coats will do the job perfectly. It applied very easily.

Tracie - pistachio green with silver pearl shimmer. Zoya describes this polish as sea grass metallic but I really see awesome pistachio green but it s not metallic at all :) The subtle silver shimmer might give a little bit of metallic finish but it is not really metallic finish. The shimmer might cause little streaks so i had to pay attention to application. Tracie has the same formula like Arizona - two coats are enough for perfect coverage and polish applies easily.

Wednesday - soft aqua creme. Such a lovely spring shade! I don't wear blue polishes often but I will this one, especially in combination with Zuza! I needed two coats for full coverage and it applied flawlessly. In the first coat the finish looked little bit like jelly which I liked very much and in the second coat it looks like creme finish.

I can't say nothing else than well done Zoya! All polishes in beach collection have absolutely flawless formula, they apply easily and level out perfectly. Pigmentation is really good two - I've used two coats with all polishes but the pinks/purples could do with one thicker coat. Drying time is good to average. I really adore the colours and they are also good for stamping! However the first three polishes (pink/purples) are easily 'dupable' and we've seen them before. But the last three shades Arizona, Tracie & Wednesday are not that usual shades.
