How to: DIY Kaviar manicure for less (inspired by 'caviar on nails' style)

Hi lovelies,

so I was quite appalled by yesterday's news about Ciate trademarking term 'Caviar manicure/Caviar nails' and forbidding bloggers to use it in DIY manis and this is my response: KEEP IT, but you're killing your brand!

I've originally created this tutorial for Amitee blog but because of all the stuff happening I will publish it..just because I CAN! You can read about this whole issue in my previous post or at Pretty Digits' blog. Thank you all for your comments & opinions!

Final result - Kaviar manicure

Now you’re done!

  1. Shame for ciate . theyre are in my blacklist , i would never purchase anything or promote brand who attacks bloggers .
Its ok, if you want to create expensive kit , but you dont attack those who show how to get same results for under 2 $ .

I already ordered beads from ebay to show support :)

  7. Hehehe it's perfect i want to give a try, and i pass de voice to other bloggers because i think is very bad that a company treat that form to bloggers that give the fame, because in this era, blogs are better than magacines.

  15. I will NEVER buy from them. Simply because they are taking credit for something that isn't theirs. It's a shame. :(

  16. Love your 'K'aviar nails!

I don't understand Ciate at all...I'm not a lawyer but I surmise the word 'Konad' is copyrighted and do they come after us every time we type it?

I think they are biting the hand that feeds them.

    1. yes, definitely! Caviar mani in my opinion is a style when putting beads on nails that it looks like caviar on nails. Their trademark should only be applicable on another companies that would try to name their products Caviar nails or manicure!

  18. I love your nails. Shame on Ciate. But this is not a new idea. My daughter did some "caviar" or beaded nails last year sometime. She just did it on her ring finger. Ciate, this is not new. You can see in my blog if you look for Red, White and Blue manicure.

    1. As I understand it they are in the process of trademarking it. They've put in application and we will have to wait if somebody will have objections or something..But as I said above: Their trademark should only be applicable on another companies that would try to name their products Caviar nails or manicure! It is very unreasonable to pursue bloggers for using this name for style that has been here BEFORE Ciate kit

  22. This is actually a really good copy/dupe of the cavier manicure :) It means I could actually try it as the manicure set is quite expensive

  23. I love your more affordable version. Ciate made a big mistake because news of this spread so quickly and I don't know anyone left that would have a kind thing to say about the way they handled it. But for me, I can't get into the trend. I would rather just eat the caviar. Preferably on sushi!!

  24. Jak je to ne/příjemné na nośení v běžném provozu? Nezachytává se to, případně neopadává? Jinak v té černé je to hodně elegantní;-)

  27. Looks great. Want to quash anyone buying Ciate's sets for caviar manis. They are as a company trying to Trademark the name caviar mani as theirs so no one else can use the term! That is just nuts. It's like trying to trademark sprinkles on top of a cupcake! The company, Ciate is starting to contact some bloggers who have featured caviar manis and told them basically no no! Anyhow, even if they did get a TM for that name, we would all (as well as other companies) come up with derivations of the name -like seed manis, bead manis and all sorts of things like that.
